I met up with Leah and Justin just outside of Vantage Washington at the Wild Horses monument that is up on a hill overlooking the Columbia River and interstate 90. It’s a pretty steep but short hike up a dusty rock scramble, but the views of the rivers below and the surrounding hills is awesome, and the horses are cool too!
It was pretty windy up on the hill so we only stayed for about 20 minutes before heading down the hill to the little boat launch park alongside the i90 bridge across the river. Aside from the breeze it was a stunning September day in the mid 70s which was perfect for photos! We hung out at the park enjoying the views and awesome low angle sun before heading back up the hill to wrap up the session at sunset.
The final spot was back up above the river at the scenic looking. It’s an amazing little spot with some trails and large rocky spots on the bluff above the river, and the perfect place to catch the sunset as it is facing west! We timed it perfectly and had about 15 minutes to catch some golden light before the sun set and the sky exploded in color. It was definitely one of the top 5 sunsets I’ve ever been out working with clients in. It was super colorful and seemed to last forever!
It was super awesome to shoot in Eastern Washington for a change. Growing up on the west side of the State it’s easy to get in a habit of shooting in the same spots with similar looking locations, so the desert type landscape around Vantage was definitely something different to experience! I’m stoked for Justin and Leah’s wedding this summer in the Tri Cities. They are such an awesome and gorgeous couple, and have a totally amazing connection together. It’s going to be rad!
These engagement photos from Vantage are STUNNING. I would never imagine it could look so incredible just driving by – absolutely amazing work!
